“Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
The Book of Common Prayer, p. 236

Lectors, or lay readers, are those in the parish that the clergy has asked to lend their voice to the reading of Holy Scripture and leading of prayers. At St. Augustine’s our Lectors include children, youth and adults. It is important for us to hear scripture read by diverse voices and to empower our members in sharing and spreading the Word of God in our community.
If you are interested in joining the ranks of our Lectors, please contact our Rector, The Rev. Jenny Owen at rector@stacroton.org.
Lectors are notified of their assignments with a monthly email and reminded in our weekly emails.
